A Fume Full Of Sugar Helps The Water Go Down

Horsham, PA (WFN) -- A diet company is using a little Mary Poppins-type trickery to get dieters to drink water and think it's lemonade.

The NutriSystem company has just introduced plastic bottle caps that are infused with aromas that make regular water mimic the experience of drinking iced tea or other fruity beverages.

Faux flavors include lemon, peach and berry and health experts hope the fume-filled caps encourage water-weary drinkers to suck down the recommended 9-12 glasses of water a day.

But while fruit-flavors may not be everyone's taste, product spokesman Dr. Jay Satz says it's unlikely the company will introduce more savory scents -- like garlic mashed potatoes -- anytime soon.
