Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- On June 30, Jim Passe, a paraplegic magician, left New York behind the wheel of a car for 3000-mile cross-country trek wearing a blindfold. He arrived yesterday (Jul. 6) in Los Angeles, somewhat safe and sound.

Passe says the journey has taken a toll on his body, leaving him with an eye infection from wearing a blindfold for so long and a urinary tract infection from sitting too long.

Despite driving blindfolded, the magician didn't have any accidents. The closest he came to a crunch-up was in Manhattan where, in his words, "everyone drives two inches apart."

Along the journey, his two assistants took pictures of other motorists who gave him startled looks when they saw him driving.

And to top it all off, he says Senator John Edwards, who was nominated yesterday as Vice Presidential candidate to John Kerry, was once his attorney nine years ago.

Passe jokes, "How dare he announce his nomination on the same day I finish driving cross-country!"
