San Francisco, CA (WFN) -- A novelist from San Francisco is doing a cut-up job convincing people he's the suspect in a murder mystery. Ezra Stanley, is the 22-year-old author of the homicide novel "How to Enjoy Life on Earth by Wise King Solomon" (ebookstands), a story about a San Francisco man living with Seasonal Affective Disorder who is driven to violence by the pressures of city living. But Stanley is taking a risky approach by promoting his book, claiming police have uncovered his own novel to be a thinly-disguised confession of a true murder case. When asked about the claim, Stanley confesses "it's not true," but explains his tactics by saying, "controversy arouses questions." Stanley hasn't decided whether the controversial promotion will help him or hurt him in the long run. He says there have been no repercussions yet, but his mother, sister and girlfriend "really thought about [his plan]."
