Beverly Hills, CA (WFN) -- Here's another sign Sofia Coppola is stepping out of the shadow of her famous father: She's been invited to become a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The Oscar-voting organization has just announced the names of 127 Tinsel Town workers who are being asked to join this year.

Coppola has been invited to join in the categories of both writer and director, but she can only choose one officially.
