San Francisco, CA -- Republicans are raising a stink about a farting doll modeled on President George W. Bush.

The "Pull My Finger President" is a plush doll that emits gassy noises along with sayings like, "Hey, Saddam! Here's a weapon of mass destruction! (Toot!)" whenever its finger is pulled.

It's supposed to be a gag gift, but Catherine Brinkman, the chairwoman for the California Young Republicans, isn't laughing.

She says a farting presidential doll "crosses the line" at a time when the U.S is at war and young voters already "lack respect for the office of the president."

Brinkman also worries the butt-buzzing Bush doll will also put the troops in Iraq at risk by making the president look ridiculous in front of the French, Germans and other allies.

But the doll's creator, Richard Halpern, insists the crepitation controversy is "much apoo about nothing" because, as he points out, "Bush started his career in the gas business."
