New York, NY (WFN) -- Gene Simmons is sticking out his tongue at critics who say he's two-dimensional. The KISS bassist has just released a solo album, "Asshole," that runs the musical gamut in a way that may surprise music fans who expect a hard rock album. Simmons' CD features collaborations with Bob Dylan and Frank Zappa and is his way to, as he puts it, "just spread my wings." He admits people are surprised that he's not "two-dimensional" but says he's always had eclectic tastes in music. In his words, "If you ask me my favorite music, I'm just as likely to say Nat King Cole and Patsy Cline as Led Zeppelin." But Simmons isn't writing off his KISS career. He's on tour with the band and says its music simply has different parameters than his solo project. In his words, "KISS is designed to be what I call 'meat-and-potatoes rock' with guitars."
