Century City, CA (WFN) -- At first glance, Ann Ellertson's two kids look like typical toddlers. However, the fraternal twins may actually be the oldest two-year-olds in the world, because they came from embryos that had been kept in cold storage for 12 years. Ellertson and her husband tried for years to get pregnant and were just about to give up but decided to give in-vitro fertilization one more chance. Her doctor, Dr. Arthur Wisot, recommended trying to implant four frozen embryos into her womb -- embryos that had been donated 12 years before by people with physical characteristics similar to the couple. Wisot says no one knows how long a frozen embryo can remain viable but the success of Ellertson's offspring suggests it's indefinite. Currently, Ellertson's kids are doing fine but she admits she doesn't know if 12-year gap between conception and birth means they'll be legally allowed to drink or vote when they're nine.
