|
Atlanta, GA -- Some rock fans argue over who was better -- the "fat" Elvis Presley or the "skinny" Elvis. But the members of an Atlanta-based comedy troupe called Southern Discomfort are more politically correct: They argue over whether Elvis was a conservative or a liberal. The group is debuting a new show on Saturday (Jun. 12) and one of the routines features "Dueling Elvises" battling over Presley's political beliefs. For instance, the Republican Elvis does conservatively-themed ditties like "Return To Spending," and "True Fox News" while the Liberal Elvis sings a pro-animal rights ditty, "All Cooked Up" and "Please, Don't Drool," a song about senior citizens sung to the tune of "Don't Be Cruel." Southern Discomfort founder Alan Friedman admits the jury is still out on Presley's political party but says his two "Dueling Elvises" do agree on one thing -- Martha Stewart, who is the subject of a song, "Jailhouse Cook."
