Miami, FL -- Ronald Reagan may have tried to create a Star Wars missile defense system, but it was the moon that finally did him in.

That's the moony-eyed account of lunar behavior researcher Jeff Warren, who says Reagan's death on Saturday (Jun. 5), happened during the third quarter of the moon, which he says "...is a mellow time known for slow plant growth and a lag in biorhythms."

Warren says the third quarter is also a "time when it's hard to be at your best," which explains why Reagan was more prone to suffering from pneumonia.

But Reagan isn't the only celebrity who suffered during the third quarter. Warren blames "the pernicious third quarter" for Smarty Jones losing the Belmont Stakes and a chance to win the Triple Crown of horse racing.
