New York, NY (WFN) -- Mooove over Vaseline, now there's something meatier: bovine cartilage. Skin care researchers at Donell have developed a line of creams and ointments that contain a powdered form of trachea cartilage taken from cows. The primary ingredient, Mucopolysaccharide Cartilage Complex, is supposed to rapidly heal red, crusting and oozing skin from facial peels and plastic surgery. CEO Todd Kane says, until recently, the products were only available at dermatologists' and plastic surgeons' offices. But now they are selling in spas and online. Kane says now more women are using the bovine products to reduce redness after leg waxing, or on cuts. A new baby product line is in development to heal kiddie aliments like diaper rash. Kane's biggest beef with marketing the bovine cartilage products is people who worry about getting mad cow disease, which he says couldn't happen because the product is topical and doesn't contain diseased parts.
