New York, NY (WFN) -- The old saying about New York is "if you can make it there, you'll make it anywhere," and that's a sentiment that's not lost on Trading Spaces designer Doug Wilson.

The home interiors expert recently put his skills to the test by trying to transform a public ladies' room at Madison Square Garden into a luxurious retreat worthy of lounging in.

To start, he hid the endless line of toilet stalls with lavender curtains and fancy columns. Then, he added several wall sconces on dimmers for mood lighting; two light blue chaise lounges and a lambskin rug.

It may sound like an exercise in futility, but Wilson says the point was to show that if he can make an industrial women's restroom seem comfy, it's no great task for an average person to do it for their own powder room.

He shares other tips for making a bathroom into a "Sensual Sanctuary" at the Caress soap website, caressskin.com.
