Renton, NJ (WFN) -- It's last call for "Ladies Night" at bars in New Jersey. The director of the state Division of Civil Rights has ruled that offering discounts to women and not men discriminates against men. The ruling carries the same force of a court decision and applies to bars statewide. CLARKSVILLE, Ind. -- A 22-year-old man from New Albany, Indiana, had a jolting experience when he climbed a power line and 69,000 volts of electricity shot through his body. Electric workers say a jolt that size almost always kills people, but the man is currently in fair condition and police say he "appeared to have extensive burn marks on his chest and his pants appeared to have exploded." HUXIAN, China -- A Chinese chicken farmer is receiving a settlement from police after a malfunctioning squad car siren went off and scared 435 of his birds to death. A court ordered the police to compensate the rancher in Huxian, Shaanxi province for the 35 fowl who died immediately following the siren's call, but said the noise couldn't be blamed for the 400 who kicked the bucket from shock later on, reports the "Procuratorate Daily." SYDNEY -- Now that's just bananas! Australian scientists have developed a system that uses rotten bananas to create energy for homes. The fruit would be combined with bacteria to produce methane gas, which would in turn power turbines and produce energy. A representative from the Australian Banana Growers Council tells the U.K. "Guardian" scientists will probably stick to bananas initially but, "potentially, you could use other fruit."
