|
Bloomington, MN (WFN) -- Minneapolis' Underwater Adventures Aquarium has displayed one of its more biting exhibits ahead of schedule in anticipation of a shark-filled summer. The aquarium was scheduled in July to display a six-foot surfboard with two chomp-marks taken out of it by a Great White shark off of Guadalupe Island near San Diego. But aquarium officials decided to ride the wave now and move the piece forward to its SeaCrits of Hollywood Gallery after two Great White Shark attacks took place over the Memorial Day weekend in California and Brazil. A spokeswoman says they expect to see more shark attacks in the news and want to help educate swimmers about them. She says its unusual for folks in Minneapolis to see something from a Great White shark attack. According to the aquarium, the surfer whose board was bitten survived the attack. He witnessed his board being devoured from the safety of a 70-foot boat.
