|
Portland, OR (WFN) -- Most people want a job that feels like a vacation, not a vacation that involves a job -- but most people aren't entrepreneur Brian Kurth. He's the founder of VocationVacations.com, a company which sets up corporate bigwigs on vacations where they can try out "dream jobs" like winemaking or cattle-ranching. Kurth started the venture after daydreaming about alternative careers during the two-hour commute to his old job as a director of business development for a high tech firm in Chicago. The vacations range from a few days to a week and include professions like cheese-making, training horses, gardening and making chocolate. Kurth sees the experience as a "baby step toward making a change" in your career, so he also includes a one-hour consultation with a career coach in the package. The trips cost anywhere from $500 to $5500 -- not including transportation, food or lodging.
