New York Native Makes A Big Splash -- By Swimming The Hudson River

New York, NY (WFN) -- A New York City native is hoping to make a big splash in his home town -- by swimming the entire length of the Hudson River.

Starting June 3, acupuncturist Christopher Swain will dive into Lake Tear Of The Clouds -- the Hudson's highest source -- and swim six hours a day until he reaches the Varrazano Narrows Bridge and the Atlantic Ocean eight weeks later.

Swain admits he will be exposed to all sorts of toxic contaminants, including pesticides, motor oil, raw sewage and heavy metals but is doing the super swim to promote the need for clean water.

Although Swain is hoping his journey inspires other citizens to clean up the Hudson, he says he'd be happy "if they didn't flush their toilets when I'm swimming by."
