Minneapolis, MN (WFN) -- Hockey has always been a bloody sport, but now it will become a blood sport. A new two episode pay-per-view TV show titled "Battle of the Hockey Gladiators" will debut August 21 and combine hockey and boxing. The show pits pairs of former or current professional hockey players against each other in a 32-round slug-fest over a two day period. Competitors wear full hockey gear -- without the hockey stick -- and beat the tar out of each other on the ice. Whoever wins the championship takes home a prize of $100,000 while the second place winner takes home $20,000 and third place will receive $10,000. Darryl Wolski, the founder of "Hockey Gladiators," says blood, broken noses and knocked-out teeth will be the worst-case scenario. Although the National Hockey League shuns on fighting, Wolski figures he's just giving fans what they want.
