|
Syracuse, NY (WFN) -- No one can make that Iraqi soldier scandal go away by waving a magic wand but casting a spell just might ensure that justice is done. Wiccan priestess Eileen Holland has a "scene of the crime" spell that uses three black candles; a picture of a spider; black yarn; and pepper that she uses to contact the goddess "Hecate," who rules over all crime scenes. First, write "the criminal" on three black candles and place them in a triangle surrounded by a web made from the black yarn. Then, start chanting, "In this place that was defiled/ By the one who is reviled/ Seek him, find him/ Catch him, bind him." Although the spell can ensure that the soldiers will pay for their actions, Holland warns that spirit works in strange and mysterious ways and it's possible that they might be killed in a violent gun fire instead of court-martialed. Another problem: Holland says the spell's success depends on being close to the crime scene and she's not sure many witches will fly to Iraq to cast spells on the soldiers. Holland discusses spells in her new book, "Spells For The Solitary Witch" (Weiser).
