Tampa, FL (WFN) -- The retired Women's Lightweight World Champion boxer claims her secret to knocking out opponents is being knocked out under hypnosis.

Brenda Vickers says she was forced into the professional arena before she was ready and, as a result, developed a fear of the boxing ring after four quick losses.

But that was before Vickers hired certified hypnotherapist Herb Hamilton, who helped her overcome her fears in about six sessions.

One technique was especially colorful -- Hamilton made Vickers change the color of her boxing outfit, because she associated it with the fear from her previous losses.

Amazingly, by the time her next match was scheduled, she won by defeating the current World Champion. But there was a price for success.

Vickers says hypnotism worked so well that she had to retire from the ring -- she was so good that no one was willing to fight her.
