Pasadena, CA (WFN) -- When it comes to fancy pet fashions, dogs get all the attention -- but a cat collar designer in California is trying to change that.

Lynn Chang-Franklin claims cats are "the ethnic minority of pets" because of the way they're discriminated against in favor of dogs -- especially in the arena of fashion.

She turned to designing fancy cat collars after a search for a posh neck band for her own cat turned up nothing but ritzy collars made for dogs.

Chang-Franklin now sells her collars at her website kitty-planet.com, and designs include the studded leather "Hardcore," a diva-worthy pink marbou-trimmed collar called "Cabaret" and "Viva Las Vegas," which has gold beaded fringe hanging from it.

She says the collars are popular with fashionista felines, but so are some of the other items she sells on the site, such as catnip-filled yoga mats, litter box privacy screens and catnip-scented shampoo.
