Leicester, England (WFN) -- A team of three Brits whose specialty is ironing shirts in odd places is pressing on with a tour of American landmarks. The three -- who go by the names "Steam," "Starch" and "Short Fuse" -- are part of a worldwide phenomenon known as "extreme ironing" where thrillseekers strap ironing boards on their backs for use while rock climbing, windsurfing and even skydiving. Steam -- whose real name is Phil Shaw -- founded the sport in 1997 and says there are now 1500 extreme iron men and women worldwide. His team is coming to the U.S. tomorrow (May 15) for a 16-day goodwill tour to encourage Yanks to take up the sport. Steam is even more excited about taking his iron to some of America's landmarks, and plans to iron at Mt. Rushmore, Devils Tower and in a kayak off the coast of Boston. He thinks America has his home country beat when it comes to extreme places to iron clothes.
