Northbrook, IL (WFN) -- Now hear this: Children of educated parents are more likely to suffer ear infections than kids of high school dropouts. According to the latest issue of "Chest: The Journal of the American College of Chest Physicians," parents who've been to college are more likely to report when their kids have ear infections than grown-ups with no college education. It's not as bad as it sounds. Doctors at the University of Illinois at Chicago figure their results come, in part, because educated parents are more likely to know the signs of an ear infection and get help for them. But that's not all: Educated parents are also more likely to put their pipsqueaks in day care -- and daycare attendance is often linked to recurrent ear infections. Research is only preliminary but doctors say the findings also suggest that kids who suffer chronic ear infections may also be prone to asthma.
