	2004-05-11 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Design Your Dream Guitar

New York, NY (WFN) -- A new contest will certainly strike a chord with anyone who's ever wanted to design their own guitar. "Guitar World" magazine is currently asking music fans to design their own unique guitar shape and have the winning design custom-built by Fender. The winning instrument will be chosen by Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi, Aerosmith guitar hero Joe Perry and Audioslave stringmaster Tom Morello and Tolinski says "the crazier the design, the better." Existing guitars in the spirit of the contest include Prince's guitar -- which is shaped like the symbol he once used as his name -- and the axe-shaped bass played by Gene Simmons. Points will be given for creativity but some proposed shapes may be "too silly" to be taken seriously. For instance, Tolinski says one entry is shaped like a skull and crossbones and, "not many musicians would play that very often." Contest information appears in the latest issue of "Guitar World" and August 1 is the deadline for entry.
