| 2004-04-29 - Weird News Wireless Flash News New Association To Cut The Bull Over Carb-Cutting | ||
|
Philadelphia, PA (WFN) -- Carb-cutters have a new friend in fighting the battle of the bulge. The newly-founded American Carbohydrate Association launched recently with the intent of giving unbiased information on the role of carbs in nutrition. Experts from the group say they will have physicians answer questions from the public and hold web-based talk-shows and conventions. It also will put out a monthly newsletter, hand out "CarbPro" awards to carb-conscious retailers and restaurants and also distribute a Seal of Approval. One of the Association's doctors, Jerry Brodsky, says the organization has already received several hundred calls from companies wanting to get their seal of approval on packages. Dr. Brodsky says a company like Atkins charges $1 million to place its seal on a food product, but the American Carbohydrate Association's doesn't cost anything. He jokes, "We're the low price brand."
