Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- The beat is going on for Dave Wakeling, leader of the 1980s British pop bands The English Beat and General Public. Wakeling currently performs as General Public in the United States but, later this year, he's planning to visit his native land, England, and hook up with former bandmates Ranking Roger and Saxa and perform as the Beat in the U.K. The plan is to do some sort of "conglomeration" of the two bands, which should be easy for Wakeling, whose hits include, "She's Having A Baby," "Tenderness," and "Mirror In The Bathroom." Wakeling will be warming up for the tour on April 25 by performing at a musical marathon in Los Angeles called "Run Hit Wonder." He doesn't know what tunes he'll play, preferring to "...go out in the crowd 15 minutes before a show and take a reading."
