|
Seattle, WA (WFN) -- A film festival dedicated to stock film footage is hoping to get stocked up on entries. Stockstock is a Seattle-based short film festival dedicated to stock footage, the film often used in movies for transition scenes and background. Contestants pay $20 for a 36-minute mini-DV featuring all sorts of footage from the last 50 years. The budding budget filmmakers are then instructed to make a three-minute short film using only those scenes -- which often come from teen hygiene films, NASA blastoffs and doggie fashion shows. Some contestants make comedies, while others create dramas, but organizers say all of the films end up unique, even though the filmmakers use much of the same footage. This marks the third year of the festival and entries will be accepted until June 1 at stockstock.org
