Backwards Marathon Held In New York

New York, NY (WFN) -- Today may be April Fools' Day, but it's no prank that the 18th Annual April Fools' Day Backwards Mile will take place in New York.

The race is run entirely backwards around the Hudson River Park's Pier 25 and draws about 100 entrants, although only half will finish the race.

There's no award for the winner, other than the glory of being the first to finish, but that doesn't mean competition isn't stiff.

A spokeswoman says some joggers wear rear-view mirrors to make things easier on themselves.

A man from Newton, Massachusetts, who holds the Guinness Record for backward running -- and is also last year's winner -- is expected to return this year according to organizers.
