New York, NY -- You say you want a hair revolution? More and more women are throwing away hair dye and going gray.

That's according to beauty author Diana Lewis Jewell, who interviewed dozens of glamorous gray-haired gals for an upcoming book, "Going Gray, Looking Great!" (Fireside).

She says attitudes are changing, so more and more people seeing gray as hip, modern and sexy -- especially in big cities like New York.

With silver-haired role models like Emmylou Harris, Dame Judy Dench and Judy Collins, ladies who gray are also gaining attention as sex symbols.

Jewell says many younger men she talked to get turned on by gray, because it shows a woman is mature and knows who she is.

She predicts this is just the beginning for the gray-haired revolution and admits even she's become a convert after countless years of being a bottle blonde.

"Going Gray, Looking Great!" hits bookstores April 22.
