Vail, CO (WFN) -- What has forty-eight legs, a tall white hat and comes hurtling down the side of a mountain at top speed? Why, the competitors in the first-ever Chef's Alpine Ski Classic Race, of course. The competition to kick off the Taste of Vail food festival in the Colorado ski resort of the same name will pit area chefs against one another in a downhill race that kicks off the annual eating event. Around two dozen chefs of all ski skill levels are supposed to participate, and they must keep their chef's coat and hat on at all times -- even if they need to use duct tape to do so. The three fastest chefs will get tickets to various tastings during the food festival, where they'll get to kick back and eat, rather than cook. The race takes place April 7, which, by the way, happens to be Vail's snowiest month.
