Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- When L.A.-based theater actor Steve Nevil set out to stage a one-man show about his idol, Jimmy Stewart, he knew he wanted to get approval from Stewart's family.

What he didn't know was that a line about the acting icon changing his daughters' diapers would cause the biggest stir.

Nevil sent a copy of his script to Stewart's three surviving kids and heard back from Kelly, an anthropologist who's worked with Dian Fossey.

She told him he had the family's blessing to go ahead with the show, with one condition: He needed to axe a line where Stewart talks about changing his daughters' diapers.

In Nevil's words, "She said, 'My father never changed a diaper in his life. He would never be in the same room as a diaper. That just isn't what men did back then.' She was very serious about it."

The actor changed the diaper boo-boo and now his play, "James Maitland Stewart -- An Evening With Jimmy Stewart," will make its debut April 1 at the Theatre West in Los Angeles.
