Orlando, FL (WFN) -- You could say it was destiny that led Orlando Montagu to open up a sandwich shop: He's a descendent of the famous Fourth Earl of Sandwich who is credited with creating the lunchtime staple back in 1762. Montagu and his father John, the 11th Earl of Sandwich, have partnered with the founder of Planet Hollywood to launch a new sandwich chain called -- what else -- The Earl of Sandwich. The first Earl of Sandwich opened Friday (Mar. 19) at the Downtown Disney Marketplace in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, and offers both traditional combos like beef and cheddar as well as more modern fillings like Caribbean jerk chicken. Montagu says the sandwich business was always of interest to him because of his ancestry, and he's been selling "grab and go" sandwiches in British supermarkets for the past two years. The England-based Montagu family selected Florida as the site of the first sandwich shop because it's the home base of their business partner and the high-level of tourism ensures a "cross-section of the world" will try the sandwiches. In case you're curious, Montagu says his favorite is a club sandwich -- although it is more of an American creation.
