New York, NY (WFN) -- You might not immediately recognize the name Robert Young Pelton but he's as famous in Afghanistan as Jerry Lewis is in France. Pelton authors a series of books called "The Most Dangerous Places" and, as such, spends his time touring war zones. Since there aren't too many travel books about places where people shouldn't travel, Pelton says his name comes up a lot when people are planning trips to war zones. As a result, whenever he shows up in a trouble spot, he's constantly recognized by tourists, business people and journalists who use his books to get to the hot spots. But while being a celebrity in Afghanistan does have its perks, Pelton admits, "Most of the time is spent in a dim, damp cold mud house eating mutton and crunchy rice discussing religion and politics." Pelton ruminates about the joys of Afghanistan in the latest issue of "National Geographic Adventure."
