Seattle, WA (WFN) -- An artist who makes works of art from contraband seized at airport terminals will have his pieces unveiled at Seattle's Museum of Flight on March 27. San Diego-based artist Steven Maloney incorporated several hundred pounds of confiscated knives, scissors and more bizarre item like deer antlers and frying pans, for his collection of paintings titled "Banned Booty." The cornerstone of his collection is called "Houdini Banned Booty Lock Up," which is a large bulletproof, clear plexiglass box filled with knives, scissors and other sharp booty. The piece is then padlocked with a rusty 60-foot chain. Maloney says the pieces are intended to be humorous for folks who view them and speculate who might have been the owner of a Chinese frying pan or a set of deer antlers. The larger message of his work, says Maloney, is the personal item "we hold on to that is dear to us, we can't any longer."
