San Diego, CA (WFN) -- Where would big-boned gals be if Jenny Craig had never become the weight-loss guru she is today? Craig has a new book out called "The Jenny Craig Story" (Wiley) in which she recounts how she found a career in weight-loss. It was in 1951 says Craig when she joined a gym to take off the extra 30 pounds she packed on while pregnant with her second daughter. While she was working out, she slimmed down and impressed the gym owner so much that he hired her to sell memberships, and from there she had numerous jobs in the weight loss world before launched Jenny Craig weight loss clinics in 1982. Now at 71-years-old, Craig reflects on what she might have become if the gym manager hadn't given her a job. She says she considered a career as a dental hygienist but didn't choose one because she would have had to move away from her home and her sick mother to take training classes. Craig says it was fortunate for her and the millions of overweight folks.
