New York, NY (WFN) -- Don't dog Deborah Harry - she's doing her part to support a charity that rescues abandoned Pugs.

The Blondie singer is lending a hand to her vocal coach Barbara Maier, who is gathering some of her best students for a canine benefit at Joe's Pub in Manhattan April 21. It's a pet issue for Maier, whose late daughter was a devoted Pug lover who worked to find foster homes for homeless Pugs.

Harry says she's proud to give something back to her teacher, "...since she's done so much for me." As a bonus for Blondie fans, she'll debut two new songs in her set from the group's upcoming album - a ballad called "Songs of Love" and another track, "Diamond Bridge."

Harry will share the bill with several performers including Diamanda Galas, Heather Greene and the campy Tammy Faye Starlite, who plans to tie in to the evening's theme with her version of "You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog."

Meanwhile, instructor Maier says she's feel "exceedingly proud" seeing all her students together on stage.
