Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- A midnight time slot killed comedy writer Bob Odenkirk's HBO sketch comedy program "Mr. Show" in the late 1990s. But that isn't stopping him from braving the midnight hour on cable TV again. Odenkirk, whose "Mr. Show" kicked off Jack Black's career, will be hosting a weekly midnight movie showcase on the Sundance Channel which starts this Friday (Mar. 5). This time around, the late time slot won't be a death knell -- it's part of the appeal. The new program, "Midnight Snack," features offbeat foreign and independent films that are best-watched late at night -- such as the 1980 Clash mockumentary "Rude Boy" and Robert Rodriguez' low-budget Mexican shoot-em-up "El Mariachi." Odenkirk agreed to host the show before he knew which films were being shown -- which made him a bit worried about what he'd say if he didn't like the films. Luckily, he enjoyed all of them, and even picked up some tips for his own films from watching them.
