Woodland Hills, CA (WFN) -- Mother Goose is getting booted from the nursery rhyme books in place of "The Addams Family." That's the song being sung by Vic Mizzy, the musical mastermind who wrote the themes to both "Green Acres "and "The Addams Family," both of which are couch potato classics with young and old alike. Mizzy says he's met whole classes of 5-year-olds who know the lyrics to that song and proclaims, "It's replaced 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' as a nursery rhyme." Despite being a playground perennial, Mizzy admits many kids sing "off-color" lyrics as "The Addams Family started/ When Uncle Fester farted/ They all came out retarded/ The Addams Family." Now, Mizzy hopes to change things one school class at a time. Tomorrow (Feb. 27), he's meeting a class of fourth graders in Woodland Hills, California, to explain the basics of songwriting. The offer to help the kids came from personal experience. The 82-year-old composer recently heard some kids singing the dirty lyrics and thought, "I don't know if I should tell them I wrote that."
