Washington (WFN) -- Foes of the food industry are being taunted with a set of tarnished halos. The "Tarnished Halos" are awards handed out every year by the Center for Consumer Freedom to what the organization calls, "animal rights zealots," "celebrity busybodies" and food activists. Halo holders for 2003 include actor Alec Baldwin, who's being tarnished for recording the voice-over to an anti-meat video for People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals. Meanwhile, New Zealand's Minister of Health is being called out for advocating minimum legal age limits for buying candy, chocolate and sodas. -- A George Washington University law professor is getting a Tarnished Halo for threatening to sue six restaurant chains unless they post signs telling customers the food is "addictive." -- And a Virginia police chief makes the list after arresting several bar patrons and proclaiming, "you can't be drunk in a bar."
