Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Four NBA superstars are being transformed into superheros for an upcoming episode of the Saturday morning cartoon "Static Shock." The series revolves around African-American superhero, Virgil Hawkins, who gains electro-magnetic powers when he's exposed to a mixture of chemicals during a gang rumble in a chemical storage yard. In the episode titled "Hoop Squad," Virgil meets up with all-star players Karl Malone, Yao Ming, Tracy McGrady and Steve Nash who each have their own superpower and secretly fight crime. Malone -- who plays forward for the LA Lakers -- voices the character "Pulverizer," who has the power to crush things with his bio-enhanced hands. It's something The Mailman appreciates. He says if he could have a super power in real, he'd want super strength. "Anyone would want to be Superman," says Malone, "and I pride myself in conditioning over the years to look the part." Malone says he was "pleasantly surprised" to be asked to voice the role of Pulverizer, and will definitely consider future acting roles.
