New York, NY (WFN) -- If you forget people's names or where you put your keys, you may want to attend the 7th Annual USA Memory Championship this Saturday (Feb. 28) and watch how the pros remember things. Contestants of the Memoriad-sponsored event are required to memorize a 1000 digit number, 500 words, 99 names & faces, an unpublished/unrhymed poem, and a shuffled deck of cards in 5 to 15 minutes. Surprisingly, Memoriad spokesman Tony Dottino says recalling where you put your keys or cell phone is similar to remembering numbers and words. He says "anchoring" them by remembering a detail of what you were doing at the time you were using them helps recall what you did with them. To remember people's names, Dottino says spell their first and last name when you first meet them, before you begin talking to them, to anchor their name in your mind. The winner of year's competition will move on to compete in the world championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 3, 4, 5 and, of course, retain memories of a lifetime.
