|
Los Angeles, CA (WFN) -- Singer Alison Krauss may have women clamoring to walk a mile in her shoes after she dons her footwear for this Sunday's (Feb. 29) Oscar telecast: The high heels are worth $2 million smackeroos. The 4 1/2 inch-high stilettos by shoe designer Stuart Weitzman are covered with 565 diamonds -- including a rare 5-carat, amaretto-colored, cushion cut rock placed smack dab in the middle of her right tootsie that's worth $1 million alone. Inspired by the glass slippers worn by Cinderella, Weitzman took a pair of clear high-heeled sandals and covered them with shimmering diamonds provided by Kwiat fine jewelers. After the ceremonies, the shoes will be placed in the window of Harrod's department store in London so onlookers can ogle them. Krauss, meanwhile, will get a replica pair of the shoes encrusted with crystals instead of diamonds.
