Plant With Funny Name Promises Weight Loss And More

Toronto, Ontario (WFN) -- Fat folks are starting to give a hoot for Hoodia.

Hoodia Gordonii is a plant found in the deserts of South Africa that is becoming a popular appetite suppressant in North America.

Canadian supplement supplier, Millennium Health Supplements, Inc. is one of the most recent companies to begin selling Hoodia in North America.

According to a company spokeswoman, the San Kung Bushmen have been giving it to their children for years to suppress their appetite because there's little food to eat where they live.

The company claims it can reduce your food urges up to 2,000 calories a day.

But while it diminishes ones appetite it may increase sexual appetite: A spokeswoman says Hoodia possesses a mild aphrodisiac effect felt mostly by men.
