New York, NY (WFN) -- If John Kerry is elected president, he could be the first chief executive to have a garage band in the White House.

Back in prep school, Kerry played bass in a garage rock group called the Electras that has long since broken up, but a Kerry rep tells "Newsweek" that "if the Blues Brothers and Fleetwood Mac can be reunited, then the Electras will be a snap" -- at least for the inauguration.

Some of Kerry's bandmates consider him "competent" and "a quick learner" who could shrug off a broken bass string. However, sax player Lee Scarbrough "...didn't know Kerry was even in the Electras."

Two ex-bandmates admit they aren't voting for Kerry but drummer Peter Lang insists "We'll all be better off if he's elected."

You could be hearing more of Kerry's rocking past. The Electras only album will soon be reissued on CD even though guitarist Jon Prouty considers it "dreadful."
