Greensborough, VA (WFN) -- Tongues and tails are wagging over the new "Benji" movie scheduled to open this summer. Benji's creator Joe Camp is currently touring the U.S. with the famous dog showing the film to test audiences, and he says response is positive. There's been a lot of fathers turning up at the screenings, which is surprising to Camp because the films were always targeted towards women. The new Benji was found at an animal shelter in Gulfport, Mississippi, in 2001, and Camp says this one is the smartest Benji ever. "You can drop her anywhere and she's as happy as a clam," he says. Although Camp did have a small scare when he discovered his new star had heartworm, luckily it was a light case that was easily cured. Two other Benji runners-up were also found, one named Shaggy who appears in the film for comic relief as Benji's sidekick. These days, both Benji and Shaggy live with the Camp family, and there are plans for both to star in a couple more movies and TV specials.
