Bend, OR (WFN) -- Would you wear a t-shirt made of tofu? How about a sweater made from soy? An Oregon company which makes natural fiber clothing is about to get the answers to those questions with the launch of a line of men's and women's activewear made from fiber spun from the shells of soybeans. The "Of The Earth" brand shirts, pants and sweaters have cutesy names like "Super Soy V-Neck," "Edamame Wrap" and "Tofu T," and range in price from $30 to $60. Clothing line co-founder Richard Ziff says the material is made by a soybean farmer in China who's been perfecting the process for 20 years. The soy fiber is blended with organic cotton for the final fabric, which Ziff says feels luxuriously soft. The new line won't be in stores until March, but Ziff's company has big plans for soy clothing. He plans to produce longjohns using a blend of soybean fiber and silk.
