New York, NY (WFN) -- If Shakespeare were a high school student today, he'd have a slim chance of getting into the college of his choice based on how he'd score on the SAT's essay section. That's what the test prep pros at The Princeton Review discovered after grading the Bard's writing using the same criteria used for the new essay segment of the college entrance exam -- which will go into effect next March. Using the new standards, Shakespeare's famous "All the world's a stage" passage from "As You Like It" would score the world's most famous writer a measly two points out of a possible six. By contrast, a section from Unabomber Ted Kaczynski's infamous manifesto would merit a perfect six. It isn't just a fluke. The Princeton Review also tested the great writers Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein and found they'd score a three and a one, respectively. Princeton Review founder John Katzman says this experiment proves the College Board's grading standards for writing reward students for following rules rather than for their creativity.
