| 2004-01-22 - Weird News Wireless Flash News Professional Speaker Speaks Out On 'The State Of The Union' Address | ||
|
Chicago, IL -- President George W. Bush has come a long way as a public speaker, but a professional speaker who studied his recent State of the Union address says there's still room for improvement. Eliot Shapiro, who consults with business executives, says Bush's podium persona could be friendlier and more expressive. He says Bush needs to stop leaning on the lectern and start using his hands to emphasize his points. Shapiro also recommends Bush plant both feet firmly on the ground instead of leaning to one side. He says Bush oozed charm when he made his way to the podium but ruined things during his speech by not using any facial expressions to emphasize how he felt. Furthermore, he caught Bush using the word "nucular" instead of nuclear on four occasions. Shapiro's company surveyed TV viewers at ratethepresident.com and, overall, folks gave Bush a 3.39 on a five-point scale.
