San Diego, CA (WFN) -- Big Wheels are considered a toy for kids but they're becoming an adult activity for some weekend daredevils in San Diego. For the last year, Bobby Jordan and six of his friends have been reliving their childhoods by racing Big Wheel tricycles down steep mountainsides. Jordan -- who works as a power lineman when he's not "Big Wheeling" -- says the toy trikes reach speeds of 35 miles per hour; so fast that the plastic wheels melt away before the end of the ride. In fact, he's already gone through two Big Wheels himself -- and that's just from riding them on weekends. So far, the only serious injuries for the "Descanso Big Wheel Boys" have consisted of a little "road rash," but Jordan admits it's only a matter of time before some bones get broken. Hopefully, that won't happen until "Big Wheel" Bobby fulfills his goal: Making his newly-discovered sport popular enough to be considered for the Olympics.
