|
New York, NY (WFN) -- Elvis Presley fans who want to own a piece of history will soon be able to own part of one of his very first recordings. On January 27, the company that owns the master tape to the King's legendary "Sun Sessions" will be snipping the recording into two-inch strips. The tape snippets will then be placed on a plaque and sold for $495 apiece. Cutting up the King might sound like sacrilege to some but Mike Esposito, the man behind the cutting edge collectible, thinks it's a way for fans to own a piece of history. Don't worry: The music on the tape is preserved but the original master is so badly deteriorated that it might burst into flames if preserved the traditional way -- by baking it. The cutting ceremony takes place Jan. 27 and Esposito plans to play excerpts from the recording, including "chatter between Elvis and producer Sam Phillips" between snips.
