Nashville, TN (WFN) -- It's one thing to sing the blues, but fans of Lynyrd Skynyrd have a reason to sing the bluegrass. Nashville-based bluegrass musician Larry Cordle has just recorded "Lonesome Skynyrd Time," a bluegrass CD featuring famous songs by the classic rock band. Some of the Skynyrd songs Cordle picked for the CD include bluegrass renditions of "Sweet Home Alabama," "Gimme Three Steps" and "Saturday Night Special." Cordle doesn't know how his countrified version of classic rock will play with Skynyrd fans and jokes he'll probably be "crucified" by bluegrass fans. Still, he says doing the album will help his stage career in at least one regard. Cordle says audience members always yell out, "Play 'Freebird'" as a joke and now, in his words, "I'll be able to play it for them." "Lonesome Skynyrd Time" hits stores Jan. 27.
