New Announcer To 'Come On Down' On 'The Price Is Right'

Los Angeles, CA -- The price is right for a comedian who will be stepping into the shoes of deceased "The Price Is Right" announcer Rod Roddy.

Daniel Rosen had been the announcer for "The Price is Right" live version in Harrah's casino in Reno, Nevada, for about three months when he got a call asking him to try out for the TV version.

He's now taping episodes as the new announcer which will air in February, and he's hoping the job will become permanent.

Like his predecessor, Rosen says he'll don flashy suits for the job, but he says, "not Rod Roddy style, but in my own way."

Also, Rosen says it's the toughest announcing job because it's more than saying "come on down" -- it's also crucial to talk fast about washers, automobiles and microwaves.

Working with host Bob Barker can be intimidating too. In Rosen's words: "It's freaky to look across the stage and see Bob Barker."
